Learn French Numbers Quickly And Easily - First Lesson!

If you are planning to learn the French language, you absolutely need to Learn French numbers. There is no way to avoid it.

Before we start, you need to know the two kinds of numbers. Obviously, you already know (from your English classes...) them.

We will review the cardinal numbers, and then, ordinal numbers.

1 - Cardinal Numbers

Learning the cardinal numbers is really easy. All that you need to do is to take the time to grab the right accent, and then, memorize them.

Let's start...

I am going to give you the French/English translation from 1 to 10 first:

One = un,
Two = Deux,
Three = Trois,
Four = Quatre,
Five = Cinq,
Six = Six,
Seven = Sept,
Eight = Huit,
Nine = Neuf,
Ten = Dix

Now, you know the French/English translation (the easiest part...), and to pronounce each of these numbers properly, you need to do one of the following:

1) Ask to a French Native Speaker.

2) Learn French numbers Online.

3) Attend a French Class in your Area.

Obviously, the best option is to learn online, and, happily, there are many website with audio files.
Just be sure that the one who speak is a real native speaker... From Paris!

Let's contine with ordinal numbers now...

2 - Ordinal Numbers

It's a little bit more complicated, but easier than English ordinal numbers, because you are going to find the root of the word:

First = Premier,
Second = Deuxiéme,
Third = Troisiéme,
Fourth = Quatriéme,
Fifth = Cinquiéme,
Sixth = Sixiéme,
Seventh = Septiéme,
Eighth = Huitiéme,
Ninth = Neuviéme,
Tenth = Dixiéme
As you can see, we keep the root (French = racine) of the number and we add the suffix "iéme", (except for "Premier").

Tips to Motivate Yourself to Learn English Online

Distance education is a wonderful alternative for people who want to learn English but do not have the time to attend classes. Many colleges now offer this service and it is as comprehensive and effective as the in-class curriculum would be. To learn English online, you simply have to make a commitment to learning the course material and regularly practicing your new vocabulary. In this article there are some tips that will help learners make the most of their distance education program.

Setting goals is a good way to stay on track. When you receive your course materials, divide the lessons and assignments into manageable chunks. You might not have time to do a full lesson in one night, so plan for how much you can do and stick to it until you are done.

Keep a calendar or journal with your study goals and important dates clearly marked and look at it every day. Pace yourself and do not over extend yourself. There is a reason it takes several years to graduate from a traditional college or university. You are in this to learn, not just to get a certificate, so make sure you are learning and not just racing through the material.

Establish times that are convenient for you to study and stick to those times. Choose specific evenings of the week and make sure your family does not disturb you. On the weekends, ask your partner to take your kids out for lunch and a movie so that you have a few hours of quiet time to study uninterrupted.

Having a specific place to study like a home office or your bedroom is preferable. Make sure that you have all the tools that you need, such as your school books, paper, pens, a cassette recorder, a dictionary and a thesaurus. This is one of the great benefits of choosing to learn English online. You can make your own schedule and study when it is convenient for you.

How you study is as important as what you study. Make sure that you have a quiet, comfortable place to work. It is important that you take breaks from time to time to stretch, get a drink or snack, or just to have a mental breather. Spend a few minutes surfing the Net or play a card game on your computer. Just be sure to limit the break to 10-15 minutes. This allows your mind to refresh itself so that you can learn English online without feeling pressured or stressed.

As you learn English online, you should put what you are learning to good use. Start listening to English radio and television programs, and converse in English with your friends and family. This too is a part of the learning experience. Online learning is supposed to be fun, so enjoy the experience of putting your newfound knowledge into practice. By doing so you will see how much you have learned and it will motivate you to complete your course.

How to Learn English Outside the Classroom

You can learn English even if you are not in a classroom setting. Do not get me wrong, I am not saying that you do not need to enroll in a language class, what I am saying is that learning any language is and should never be limited in the class or at school. Going to school means getting a formal education to learn basic principles of the language, when you leave school, that is when you apply and practice all the things that you have learned inside your class. There are many tools and methods that you can use to promote your learning a language.

Modern technology now is really amazing although I sometimes think that with all the gadgets around that does the thinking for us, people start relying on all this "smart" techie stuff and eventually make humans "dumb". I personally think that we should not allow for this to happen and continue to think with our brain.

We need to exercise the brain as much as the body therefore we must utilize these gadgets that we have to learn different and new things. One can even use his or her iPod to listen to Podcasts in English. You can read books on Kindle, listen to English music on an mp3 player and even watch movies that use English as their language. All these are tools outside the classroom that can help you to learn English. So put your iPod to good use and start by downloading practical Apps to help you learn.

Old school is never too old especially if we are talking about reading actual, printed and published books. It is true that everything is digitally available and downloadable to any of our hand held or portable computer devices but real books are still very important. Books don't need to be electrically charged and do not need batteries for you to read them, so go to your closest book store and buy a good book. Reading will not only help you better your writing skills but also aid in broadening your vocabulary. English is a widely used language and has millions of books published with.

Going on a date? Why not go see the latest movie of Mission impossible or James Bond, nothing can be more English than that. Learning English can be fun too, watch a movie and try to remember your favorite lines. Repeat these lines to a friend and have fun sharing your insights about the movie.

Last but not least, always remember to learn English by practicing it with a classmate or a friend outside your school. Try to have a conversation with somebody who is fluent with the language so at least they can give you some tips and even teach you some new words to widen your knowledge of the language. Have a great and casual conversation with someone, hang out with them and really immerse yourself with this exercise and before you know it, you are already speaking English better that you were yesterday! Sometimes when you do something fun while you are learning, it becomes a very easy task to do.

How to Learn English From Anywhere

If you are disabled or live far away from a university or other teaching facilities, you may wonder how to learn English. You can actually learn English from anywhere that you have internet access. Online English language instructors and programs can teach you everything you need to speak English properly. Programs like Skype allow you to see your instructor as well as chat right through your computer in real time, so it's like you are physically in a classroom. Many businesses like to have their employees who don't speak English well to take online courses to improve their performance.

Companies that have a lot of non-English speakers can enrol their employees at a discount in an online English course. Instruction can take place at a designated time, or employees can study on their own time.

Coursework can be designed for individuals or for groups. No matter what the course design is, it is very important to English language students to practice frequently. This is another reason why a program like Skype helps. You and your friend can talk over the internet if you can't meet physically because you are in different cities or have odd work schedules.

To learn English, you will need to learn vocabulary. You will learn English pronunciation and spelling and practice reading, writing, and speaking English words. Each lesson will build on the lessons that came before, so it's very helpful to review before you start a new lesson. You should also ask questions so you are confused as lessons continue. The English language has a lot of exceptions to the basic rules. You can learn these exceptions over time and it will get easier for you. A simple way to practice when you are waiting in line or on a bus is to carry flash cards with you. On one side of the card, you can put an English word or phrase and on the other, you can write the same phrase in your native language. Go through the cards as quickly as you can to practice words, phrases, their spellings and pronunciations.
